Bounce back was a must for us.
After last week's defeat to Devon Sharks, Storm had to bounce back and show that last week was just a bump in the road.
The weather was trying its best to soften the pitch; however, that did not really happen. If anything, the weather made it terribly humid.
From the outset, the lads brought their game to the match, and it showed. They displayed hard, fast attacking and excellent line defense. However, due to the tropical rain, the ball became greasy, resulting in knock-ons from both sides, taking its toll and offering opportunities for turnovers.
Despite a few mistakes such as forward passes and incorrect play of the ball, we managed to reach the try line first. In previous games, we had struggled to score first, putting us on the back foot, which is never ideal as it forces us to chase the game and often leads to more errors.
With a clever ball move over the line, Trojans secured their first try of the game, proving that you can't let your guard down. As the game progressed, so did our confidence, sometimes a bit too much, resulting in unnecessary offloads that led to knock-ons or turnovers for Trojans. However, a few words from the sideline and everything started to come together: support play, cutting at the right angles—it was a coach's dream
